Parent Abuse - Role of Victims understanding that Government


This is the second part of a series of four articles on Up Abuse: Role of Civil Society and Government. We saw earlier an overview of Elder Abuse and various parties associated with it. We shall now cover the victims per se and they can do. Role of State and Central Government could possibly be discussed briefly.

Victims of Elder Abuse - The things they can do

Senior citizens was made to empower themselves with details, information and data designed to face and tackle impact. They should have phone numbers and addresses of lawyers, doctors, community, pressure groups, counseling centers etc etc. Ignorance of rights understanding that law in particular is harmful and places the senior in a vulnerable so what. Senior citizens should become a member of several associations and peer groups like walkers links, prayer groups, Day Precaution Centers etc. When abuse occurs they should openly discuss it with others without feeling too shy or ashamed. Senior Citizens must make themselves financially sound tweaking independent.

They should never reveal their property to their own wards or disclose all their assets to everyone. Where feasible they not hesitate to take Reverse Personal loan and ensure a steady stream on income. Taking recourse to legal provisions should be the last resort. Having anger alone or up on one's prestige alone can't be enough. Civil Suits take years to get decided and lot of time & time are spent.

Pointers to the United states and Central Governments:

Central Point out: Present MWPSCA 2007 will not talk about softer reality of Elder Abuse. Provisions should be made in this to render it a comprehensive stretch of legislation.
